Pacers Downed by Hornets

The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 5  Lynchburg 9
  • Records: William Peace 3-7 Lynchburg  3-5

How It Happened:
  • Easton Payton would start things off for the Pacers in the bottom of the first inning with a base hit through the left side. Nathan Holt would follow with a stand-up double to left center. With runners on second and third, the Hornets defense would leave both runners stranded.
  • The Hornets scored their first run of the game with two on, as Carson Atkins ripped one through the left side, scoring one.
  • The Pacers would answer in the bottom of the second inning as Johnathan Rhew would reach on a fielder's choice, advancing Mikey Anerton to third. Easton Payton would step up to the plate hitting a double to left field scoring Rhew and Anerton.
  • A string of base hits including a double and triple for the Hornets gave them a boost in the top of the fourth inning as they took a 6-2 lead. Jamey May would relieve John Speight on the mound as the Pacers would put an end to the Hornet rally.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Michael Sterne would lead off the inning with a base hit to third base. Kyle Lowke would reach on an error, advancing Sterne. Mikey Anerton would lay down a SAC bunt moving Lowke and Sterne. Johnathan Rhew would ground out to second, scoring Sterne. Lowke would score on a balk and the Pacers would close the inning with two runs to inch closer to the Hornets, 6-4.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nathan Holt would get things going with a base hit. Alec Seaton would follow suit with a single to right field and would advance to second on the throw, moving Holt to third. Tyler Tilson would fly out to center field for an RBI to score Holt. The Pacers would head into the top of the sixth, trailing 6-5.
  • The Hornets would hold the Pacers at five runs and would score three more runs throughout the seventh and eighth innings, winning the game, 9-5.

  • Kinston Carson would finish with four hits with two RBI's and one double.
  • Kaden Warren went 3-5 at the plate with one double.
  • Parker Shaffer would go 2-5 at the plate with one RBI and one stolen base.
  • Garrett Jackson pitched 3.2 innings for the Hornets with three strike outs.
