Offensive Explosion Propels Pacers by Greensboro

THE BASICS:

  • Final Score: William Peace 12 Greensboro 2

  • Records: William Peace 6-17 (1-10 USAS) Greensboro 9-12 (6-6 USAS)

  • Location - Cary, NC | USA Baseball National Training Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pride would get on the board in the top of the first inning as Scotty McGuire doubled to right centerfield and would score Tyler Price to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead.

  • Price would then return the favor and drive in a run of his own and score Blake Carroll to double the Pride's lead.

  • The Pacers would answer with an offensive explosion in the bottom of the fourth.Alec Seaton would start things off with a leadoff single. WPU would eventually load the bases after Michael Sterne reached on an error.

  • Parker Ferstrum would be hit by a pitch to bring in Tyler Tilson for the Pacers' first run of the game. Tyler Galloway would then score on a balk to tie the game at 2-2.

  • Mikey Anerton delivered with the bases loaded with a 2 RBI single to left field to put the Pacers ahead 2-4. After Nathan Holt was hit by a pitch to again the load bases, Alec Seaton would extend the Pacers lead to 6-2 as he drove in Anerton and Payton with a single to centerfield.

  • The eight run inning would be capped off as both Nathan Holt and Alec Seaton both scored on wild pitches to give the Pacers a 8-2 lead.

  • Mikey Anerton continued his hot hitting  in the top off the fifth with a single to left field which would score Easton Payton and Jonathan Rhew. Alec Seaton would follow suit with an RBI single to centerfield to give the Pacers a 12-2 lead.

  • With Pacers in the lead, pitchers Isaiah Ortega, Samuel Peddycord, and Austin Padgett would hold the Pride to two hits over 5.2 innings while combining for 6 strikeouts and seal the 12-2 win for the Pacers.

  • Scotty McGuire went 3 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI

  • Tyler Price finished the day going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI

NEXT GAME:

The Pacers back in action on Friday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. vs Averett University on the main field of USA Baseball National Training Complex. This will be the first game of a three game conference series.
