Pacers Fall to Trinity Bantams

The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 3 Trinity 8
  • Records: William Peace 5-14 Trinity 4-2
  • Location: Lexington, SC

How it Happened:
  • In the top of the first inning, errors would plague the Pacers as the Bantams would score two unearned runs to go along with one earned run.
  • The Pacers would leave two on in the bottom of the third followed by the Bantams coming out swinging in the bottom of the inning. A lead off single through the left side accompanied by strong base running would put Stamatis on third base. Two more base hits would score two more runs for the Bantams heading into the top of the fifth.
  • The Pacers would find their rhythm in the top of the fifth inning as Michael Sterne worked the count for a walk, and Nick Tilley would come in to pinch hit, successfully drilling a single to left field, advancing Sterne to third. Johnathan Rhew pinch hit for Gavin Wheeler and hit one deep to right field for an RBI single. Easton Payton would single up the middle to score Tilley. The Pacers trailed, 5-2 after five innings.
  • After back-to-back walks in the top of the seventh inning, Mike Guanci Jr. singled to center field, scoring one, bringing the score to 6-2.
  • The Bantams would score their final runs of the game in the top of the eighth inning, scoring two runs off of three hits, extending their lead to 8-2.
  • The Pacers made a final attempt in the bottom of the ninth inning as Spencer Claus reached on an error by Trinity, and would advance to second on the throw. An RBI single down the right field line y Nick Montrose would score Claus, before the inning wrapped up, 8-3.
