Monarchs Trump Pacers In Close Contest


The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 12  Methodist 15
  • Records: William Peace 3-4  Methodist 5-3
  • Location: Fayetteville, NC

How it Happened:
  • Daltlon Albright would find Nick Falso for the first goal of the game early in the first period. The Monarchs would respond swiftly with goal just one minute later from Jack Bryan.
  • After a caused turnover from Anthony Florian, the Pacers would head down field as Falso and Albright would switch roles as Albright would score on an assist from Falso. The Pacers would lead 2-1 with 9:05 remaining in the first period.
  • With three minutes remaining in the first period, the Monarchs would tie the game up 2-2.
  • Joe Powers-Jeffers would win the following faceoff and Tristan Carter would recover the ground ball. With the Pacers controlling the possession, Adrian Brown would find the back of the net to give the Pacers a 3-2 edge heading into the second period.
  • Three minutes into the second period, the Monarchs' Hunter Vaughn would find Cade Crews for a goal to tie the game back up once again.
  • The Monarchs would go on a 3-0 run in the following two minutes to gain their first lead of the afternoon.The Pacers would respond with back-to-back goals from Falso and Florian to close the gap to a 6-5 deficit with five minutes remaining before halftime.
  • The Pacers would fail to connect on an extra-man opportunity and the Monarchs would surge down field to score their final goal of the half with two minutes remaining. The Pacers would head into halftime, trailing, 7-5.
  • The Monarchs would come out firing in the third period with a 3-0 start in the first three minutes of the second half.
  • Falso would score a hat trick in a man-up scenario to put a brief halt on the Monarch rally.
  • The Pacers and Monarchs would trade goals in the following minutes before the third period would end, 13-7 in favor of the Monarchs.
  • 20 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Monarchs would score a quick goal from AJ Mejia in a man-up situation.
  • Methodist would score their final goal of the game with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth before the Pacers would go on a 5-0 run lead by Adrian Brown and Tre Galligan.
  • The Pacer attack would fall just short as time would run out with the Monarchs victorious, 15-12.
