Pacers Edged by Lions in First Game of Series

The Basics:

  • Final Score: William Peace 5  Piedmont 6

  • Records: William Peace 3-9 Piedmont 12-4

  • Location:Demorest,GA

How It Happened:

  • The Lions would get on the board in the second inning thanks to Evan Meade RBI single that would bring home Andrew Burden for an early 1-0 lead for Piedmont.

  • In the second inning Brady Ballstadt would score the second run of the game for the Lions as he would score from third on a wild pitch.

  • In the top of the fourth, senior Tyler Tilson would step up to bat with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to give the Pacers a 4-2 lead.

  • Brady Ballstadt would continue to come up big for the Lions and lead off with a double. Ballstadt would then steal third and score on a throwing error by the catcher to cut the Pacers lead to one.

  • In the top of the sixth, Tyler Tilson would again have a productive at bat this time with an RBI single that would drive in Alec Seaton and extend the Pacers' lead to 5-3.

  • Mckinley Stanbery would then throw three scoreless innings to maintain the Pacers 5-3 lead.

  • In the bottom of the ninth with two men on base and two outs, Brady Ballstadt would be hit by a pitch to load the bases. Andrew Burden would then draw a walk to cut the Pacers lead to 5-4.

  • Tyler Burdette would then step up to the plate, and deliver with a a walk-off single that would drive in two to give the Lions a 6-4 win.

For the Foes:

  • Evan Meade would go 3 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI

  • Andrew Burden would draw two walks while going 1 for 3 at the plate and 1 RBI.

  • Sam Carpenter would pitch 7 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 8 hits.
