Pacers Fall in Quarterfinals to Berea To Conclude 18-19 Season

The Basics:

  • Final Score: William Peace 52 Berea 71

  • Record: William Peace 16-11 USA South 11-5 Berea College 21-5 USA South 14-2

  • Location: Berea, KY

 

How it Happened:

  • Shania Springer and Manazia Merriett got the scoring started off for the Pacers with a jumper and a layup to put the Pacers up 4-0.

  • The Mountaineers would follow that up with an 8-0 run with six minutes remaining in the first period.

  • The Pacers would keep it close and would tie it up at 14-14 with a jumper from Aimee Hockaday with 28 seconds remaining in the first quarter but the Mountaineers would hit a jumper of their own to give them the lead back.

  • Khadijah Daniels would start the Pacers off in the second quarter followed by Shania Springer and Myla Barnes for an 8-2 run to put the Pacers up by 4 with just under eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.

  • The Pacers would lead for most of the third quarter led by Shania Springer with six of her 10 total points coming in this quarter but the Mountaineers would make a comeback in the last two minutes to end the half with a five point lead (34-29).

  • An 8-2 run by the Mountaineers to start the third quarter would extend their lead to 11 with six minutes remaining in the third.

  • Khadijah Daniels would lead the fight scoring four points in the last five minutes to help the Pacers cut the lead to six at the end of the third quarter.

  • Back to back layups from Myla Barnes would cut the lead to three for the Pacers with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

  • Unfortunately the Pacers would get into foul trouble and the Mountaineers would go on a 17-0 run to put them up by 20 with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

  • The Pacers would finally find the basket with 1:09 left on the clock but it would be too late as Berea would hold on to secure the lead.

For the Foes:

  • Bailee Vanover finished with a game high 21 points.

  • Nakeshia Greene finished with a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Stats of the Game:

  • The Pacers shot 33.3% from the field to the Mountaineers 43.6%.

  • The Mountaineers would score 17 points off turnovers to the Pacers 9.

  • The Mountaineers outbounded the Pacers 43-38
