Seaton Walks-Off As Pacers Split Series with Brevard

THE BASICS:
  • Score:William Peace 4  - Brevard 2
  • Records:William Peace 2-2; Brevard 2-2
  • Location - Cary, NC | USA Baseball National Training Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the first inning, Beau Shealy would get on after being hit by a pitch. He'd advance to third off a base hit from Ryan Roon. With runners on the corners for the Tornadoes, Beau Shealy would score on a balk to jump to an early 1-0 lead over the Pacers.
  • Easton Payton would reach first base on a passed ball third strike to begin the bottom  of the first. He'd advance to second off a grounder from Kyle Lowke. Payton would steal third on a wild pitch, putting him in scoring position. A single from Alec Seaton to right field would score Payton to tie the game up 1-1.
  • In the top of the 2nd, Jack Atkinson would walk. A large lead off would follow with a wild throw to first, sending Atkinson around to third base. A timely strikeout from Brendan Shea and sound defense from the Pacers would strand Atkinson on third, heading into the bottom of the 2nd.
  • In the top of the fourth, Holden Lanier would reach on an error. Lanier would advance to second on a passed ball. Johnny Flynn would step up to the plate for the Tornadoes and would single up the middle, scoring Lanier.
  • Alec Seaton would begin the bottom of the fourth with a single up the middle. Ty Galloway would follow with a single of his own to put runners on first and second. Both Seaton and Galloway would advance on a wild pitch. Sterne, Dalton, and Anerton would fly out leaving two on. The Tornadoes would lead 2-1 after four innings.
  • Alex Padgett would take the mound in the top of the 8th inning for Brendan Shea.
  • With bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, Easton Payton would get hit by a pitch, sending in Johnathan Rhew to tie the game up 2-2.
  • In the bottom of the 12th inning with the score at 2-2, Easton Payton would double to left field and would advance to third on a sacrifice bunt from Parker Fernstrum. Alec Seaton would step up to the plate and would hit a walk-off home run over the left field fence. The Pacers would win, 4-2
  • The Pacers split the series with the Tornadoes, 2-2.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Alec Seaton went 4-6 at the plate with a walk-off homerun to win the game.
  • Tyler Galloway went 2-5 at the plate.
  • Easton Payton hit a huge double to left field in the bottom of the ninth to get into scoring position.
  • Brendan Shea tallied five strikeouts in seven innings of work .
  • Samuel Peddycord would pick up the win with three strikeouts in four innings pitched.

FOR THE FOES
  • Holden Lanier went 2-5 at the plate and would score one run.
  • Zach Wolfe would go 1-4 with one double.
  • Michael Merrymen started the game on the mound and would through 7 strikeouts through six innings pitched.

NEXT GAME
The Pacers are back in action on Wednesday, February 13 in Greensboro, NC. The Pacers take on Guilford College at 5:00 p.m.
