Pacers Complete Regular Season With Two Impressive Wins In The Methodist Tri-Match

Fayetteville NC-- The William Peace University women's volleyball team completed their regular season with two decisive wins in the Methodist University Tri-Match against Greensboro College and Methodist University. The Pacers head into the USA South Conference Tournament with a 23-7 overall record and a 12-4 conference record. 

Game One
In set one against the Pride of Greensboro College, the Pacers struggled early as the Pride took an 11-4 lead. They would grab 5 consecutive points to lead the Pacers 20-10. Despite some late pressure from the Pacers, the Pride would take set one 25-17.

Set two was a closer matchup in the beginning, but the Pride again took an early 10-7 lead. The Pacers would fight to get the score within 2, but Greensboro continued to hold the offensive advantage to win 25-16.

Set three saw the Pacers take a 3-0 lead as they got the offensive going. They would lead for the entirety of the set, tallying seven in a row to lead 18-10. They continued to dominate and came away with an impressive 25-12 victory to cut the Pride's lead to 2-1.

In set four, the Pacers again took an early 3-2 lead. Greensboro would then take over until kills by Abby Benton and Brittany Carpenter gave WPU a 9-8 advantage. The set continued to be a back-and-forth contest until the end when the Pacers would clinch the set 25-20 to tie the game 2-2.

In the final set, WPU grabbed a controlling 8-4 lead on a kill by Brienna Laskowski. The Pride were unable to recover, and the Pacers would win 15-7 on a kill by Brittany Carpenter which earned them a hard-fought 3-2 win.

The Breakdown The Foes Game Two
In set one of the contest against Methodist University the scoring card was opened up by Brienna Laskowski and Mya Parks! The Pacers trailed at first but a kill by Abby Benton would tie it 12-12.  With the score tight the Pacers needed to stand strong to hold off the Methodist Monarchs. Abby Benton stepped up with 3 kills toward the end of the set as the Pacers won the first set 25-20 to take a 1-0 lead.

In set two, the Lady Pacers kept gaining speed as they were the ones who would come out and snatch the lead. The ladies played well and went up by a 12-5 advantage early in the second set. Pacer standouts Brienna Laskowski and Mya Parks both put on a clinic to open up the second set. Brittany Carpenter brought the Pacers 4 kills toward the end of the set helping the Pacers clinch the set 25-20 as they took a 2-0 lead in the match.

In set three, the Monarchs wouldn't go down quietly.  Brianna Davis came up big for the Pacers this set as she had several kills to help retake the lead from the Monarchs. The Pacers kept a steady attack to their game and bested the Monarchs in the third and final set 25-15 to win the match 3-0.

  • Megan Andrews led the Monarchs with 12 kills.
  • Savannah Mullis recorded 19 assists.

The Pacers conclude their regular season and will await seeding for the USA South Conference Tournament.
