How it Happened

• In the first half, both teams started off slow as the score would stay at (7-6) in favor of the Pacers until the under thirteen minutes remaining as a Miles Wallace jumper gave the Marlins an 8-7 lead. The Marlins would then use an 11-2 run to widen their lead to 16-9 with under ten minutes remaining in the first half. 
• Down the stretch in the first half the Pacers would struggle from the floor as they would shoot just 28.6% in the first half on 6 of 21 shooting. John Burwell would lead the Pacers in the first half with 8 points. William Peace would go into halftime trailing by a score 23-41 as Virginia Wesleyan finished the first half shooting 50% from the field on 17 of 34 shooting.

• In the beginning of the second half after a pair of made free throws from the Marlins, the Pacers would use a 16-10 run to cut the deficit to ten after a Beau Bryant jumper.

• John Burwell continued to be the offensive leader for William Peace in the second half shooting 56% from the field while contributing 10 second half points.

• Pacers cut the lead down to 10, but after a technical foul call the momentum shifted in favor of the Marlins. 

• Virginia Wesleyan's lead would get to nineteen 6:25 remaining in the second half thanks to a Corey Pelahm layup. The Marlins would have great success in the paint throughout the game as they finished with 32 points in the paint. With Under five minutes remaining the Pacers would be able to get to the free throw line and would make 7 of 9 free throws as the Marlins would be cut down to eleven with 3:52 remaining in the half. Virginia Wesleyan would however close the game out on a 6-2 run and hold off the Pacers for a 78-63 victory.

• John Burwell led the Pacer offense with 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds
• Mikal Gaylord tallied 15 points and 6 rebounds 
• Trey Bryant had 7 rebounds and went 7-10 from the free throw and finished with 11 points

For The Foes

• Daniel Spencer had a game high 23 points and 8 rebounds. 
• Joran White would add 14 points for the Marlins.

Stats of the Game

•  The Marlins shot 45.8% from behind the arch
• The Pacers bench would add 27 points compared to the Marlins 26
• Virginia Wesleyan would finish with 17 points off turnovers to the Pacers 12

The William Peace University Men's Basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, November 16 in Ferrum, Virginia. They will take on Ferrum College and look to rebound after tonight's loss.
