Raleigh, NC - - The William Peace University women's soccer team dropped a hard fought match to Meredith College on October 22nd by a score of 2-1. The Pacers now fall to an overall record of 6-10-1 and a 2-5 record in the conference.
In the first half,
Victoria Finklea would get the first chance of the match just six minutes in, but keeper Miranda Lutz was able to make the stop. Pacer goalkeeper
Kasey Wilkins would contribute several good saves in the first half to keep her team in the game.
Kyra Delaney got things rolling for the Pacers at 32:48 with a solo shot deep into the Angles net to give them a 1-0 lead. The Angels would have 4 chances to score in the first half but couldn't capitalize, and the game would head into halftime with a 1-0 Pacer lead.
In the second half, the Angels fought back early with Lillian Fox's goal at 53:46 to tie it 1-1. It didn't take long for Fox to score again as she capitalized off of a blocked shot off of
Abigail Mosteller at 75:57 to take the Meredith 2-1 lead.
Gabrielle Jones had a spectacular shot for the Pacers at 70:34 but couldn't but it in the net as the Angels Miranda Lutz made a diving save to keep the Angels' lead. The Pacers were unable to generate many offensive chances in the second half, and would fall 2-1 to Meredith.
