Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University women's volleyball team will have their home opener on Saturday, October 5th with games at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. The WPU Tri-Match will take place at the Hermann Athletic Center and includes USA South Conference opponents Pfeiffer University and Averett University. The Pacers are currently 11-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The first match-up of the day for the Pacers will be against Pfeiffer University. The Falcons are 10-4 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. WPU last faced Pfeiffer on October 20th, 2018 where they came out with a 3-0 win. Junior
Brienna Laskowski led the team in that game with 13 kills, while senior
Sarah Scott tallied 29 assists. The Falcons are currently led by Alonna Clouse who has recorded 176 kills and 199 points, while Emma Gray Beacham has 174 digs.
WPU will then play Averett University at 4 p.m. The Cougars are 7-9 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Pacers and the Cougars last matched up on October 30th, 2018 in the USA South Conference tournament quarterfinals, where WPU claimed a 3-2 victory.
Sarah Scott recorded an impressive 43 assists, with
Brienna Laskowski tallied 27 digs.
The Pacers are led by senior
Mya Parks, who has contributed 135 kills and 151 points. Junior
Brittany Carpenter leads the team with 295 assists, while junior
Bergin Gillespie has tallied 237 digs.
