Winston-Salem, NC -- The William Peace University women's soccer team fell to Salem College on the road by a score of 2-1. The Pacers now drop to 6-8-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the conference.
Raine Greene got the Pacers off to a quick 1-0 lead as she found the back of the net just a few minutes in. This would mark Greene's 12th goal of the season. The Spirits put the pressure on keeper
Kasey Wilkins, with Ellie Montes getting a shot past Wilkins to tie the game at one.
Rachel Alford would get a great chance at 22:04, but her shot would hit the post. Salem continued to challenge
Kasey Wilkins as she tallied 11 saves in the first half. The Pacers were held to just a single shot on goal in the first half, and a late chance by Ellie Montes would give the Spirits a 2-1 lead.
In the second half,
Victoria Finklea would get the first opportunity as her shot would go just wide at 46:08.
Rachel Alford would challenge Salem keeper Jordan Tomberlin at 52:32, but Tomberlin was able to get her hands on it to keep the Pacers off the score sheet. The Pacers were unable to generate a lot of chances in the second half, and despite some impressive saves by
Kasey Wilkins, they would fall 2-1 to Salem.
