Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team will take on USA South Conference opponents Piedmont College and Brevard College over the weekend at home. The Pacers will play the Lions on October 12th at 2 p.m. before facing the Tornados the next day on October 13th at 2 p.m.
The Pacers will look to recover from a tough 1-0 loss to Averett University. They are currently 6-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the conference. In their last match-up, WPU and Piedmont ended the game in a 1-1 tie. Sophomore
Ivan Ponce currently leads the team with 7 goals, while sophomore
Sammy Suazo has contributed 3. Sophomore
Jorge Aguilar and freshman
Osciel Dominguez both have recorded 3 assists. Sophomore keeper
Jacob Smith has been solid in net, tallying 37 saves in 10 games.
Piedmont is coming off of a 4-3 loss to Maryville College. The Lions are led by Cameron Earls, who has 6 goals in nine games, and Jose Linares who has tallied 7 assists. Keeper Cameron Verona has 34 saves in 7 games.
In their Sunday game, WPU will take on the Tornados of Brevard College, who are currently 3-4-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the conference. The Tornados recently bested Pfeiffer University 2-1 on October 8th. Matheus Masukawa leads the Tornados with 4 goals, while Joao Monteiro has 3 assists. Keeper Patrick Hall has 38 saves in 8 games. WPU and Brevard last saw each other on September 29th, where the Pacers came away with a 2-1 victory. In that game,
