The Basics:

• Score: William Peace 84 Salem 64

• Records: WPU: 8-5  Salem: 0-12

How it Happened:

• The Pacers started off strong with a 6-0 run

• Mariah Ballen and Sophia Church lead the Pacers with 10 and 8 points respectively in the first quarter

• The Pacers came out dominate in the first part of the second quarter but got into some foul trouble later on that allowed Salem to cut the lead

• Sophia Church led the Pacers at the end of the first half with 17 points

• Mikayla Ray, Khadijah Daniels and Mariah Ballen had a pair of layups and free throws that started off the Pacer scoring early in the third quarter

• There would be sloppy play down the stretch in the third quarter from both teams but the Pacers would maintain the lead (58-36)

• The Pacers and Spirits would trade baskets back and forth throughout the fourth quarter that ultimately ended with the Spirits outscoring the Pacers (28-26)

The Recap:

• The Pacers shot 45.6% from the field and 50% from behind the arch

• Sophia Church led the Pacers with 20 points and was 3-3 from behind the arch

• Mariah Ballen and Deja Umstead also found themselves with double figure points

• Mikayla Ray led the Pacers with 11 rebounds and 2 assists

The Foes:

• Tamara Blanton finished with 21 points

• Aaliyah Webb finished with 8 points, 4 rebound and 2 steals

The William Peace University Women's Basketball Team is back in action on January 6th in Danville, Virginia for a 2:00pm tip-off versus the Averett Cougars.
