Pacers Take Down Battling Bishops in 3-0 Sweep

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University volleyball team extended their win-streak to six games in a row after sweeping N.C. Wesleyan College on Thursday evening. The Pacers took the 3-0 victory over the Bishops to earn their first conference win of the season.

Set one would get off to an evenly matched start as both teams traded points back and forth. With the Bishops up, 11-10, The Pacers would create a 4-0 run to take the lead, 14-11. Despite efforts from the Bishops to fight the Pacer offense, the Pacers would soar into a 22-15 lead after four back-to-back errors from the Bishops. Brienna Laskowski would bring a spark to the Pacers attack, tallying six kills in set one. WPU would close out their first set with a 25-17 victory.

The Bishops would keep the momentum close to begin set two before the Pacers jumped to a quick 20-10 lead. N.C. Wesleyan would answer the push from WPU to cut the lead from the Pacers to just 22-17 after three kills and an error from the Pacers. Despite the brief comeback from the Bishops, set two would conclude with an ace from Laskowski to seal the deal, 25-17. The Pacers tallied an impressive 12 aces throughout the entirety of the game.

The third and final set would move quickly as the Pacer momentum began to take over. The Pacers jumped out to a 6-0 lead with two points coming off of service aces from Sarah Scott. Sha'Nice Frazier would send down several commanding kills to solidify the sweep. One final error from the Bishops would end the game in favor of the Pacers, 25-9.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pacers will host a USA South Tri-Match on Saturday, September 22 starting at 12:00 p.m. against Mary Baldwin College and followed by a 4:00 p.m. match-up against Salem College.
