Raleigh, NC-- The William Peace University volleyball team will host the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College on Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. to open up USA South Conference play. The matchup was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved due to the effects of Hurricane Florence.
The Pacers come into the matchup on a five game win streak after defeating the Panthers of Ferrum College last week, three set to one. Mya Parks and Brienna Laskowski are leading the Pacers attack with 85 Kills and 71 kills, respectively. Defensively, the Pacer newcomer, Emily Braxton leads the Pacers and the USA South with 6.37 digs per set while also accumulating 172 digs.
North Carolina Wesleyan comes in at (4-6) after two, 3-0 sweeps of Agnes Scott and Mississippi University for Women in the Huntingdon College volleyball tournament.
WPU Athletics is asking all fans to bring items to the volleyball game for Hurricane Florence relief efforts. The athletic department has been collecting non-perishable items to be sent to the east coast on Saturday morning to benefit those affected by the recent storm. Items may include canned goods, granola bars, peanut butter, towels, personal hygiene items, etc. Fans who bring $5 worth of items will receive a free Pacers t-shirt. The fan who brings the most items will receive a specialty prize of their choosing, following the volleyball game.
