Lamm Leads Pacers Over Tornados

Cary, NC-  The William Peace University baseball team won the opening game of their three game series against Brevard on Friday afternoon. The Pacers defeated the Tornado by a score of 7-4. The win brings the Pacers to (18-18) while Brevard drops to (6-28).

Pitching & Defense get the job done for the Pacers

Braxton Lamm put on a show in his fnal outing on the mound. The senior from Louisburg NC, was dominate on the mound, and the field in a game that only saw four hits between the two schools going into the fifth inning. Lamm tied his season high in strikeouts with seven while only walking two Brevard batters. The spectacular pitching display was aided by a Pacer defense that kept Brevard at bay for much of the game.

Pacers take advantage of Brevard Blunders

With tremendous defense carrying Peace early, it didn't take long for the bats to wake up. Trey Hogan got the festivities going as he ripped an RBI single to right field, bringing Kyle Cramner home. The inning proved to be very lucrative for the Pacers, knocking in three of their seven total runs. A series of errant throws by the Brevard defense allowed the vigilant Pacers to tack on two insurance runs in the seventh inning. Brevard got on the board in the top of the eighth inning, cutting the Pacer lead to one. The Pacers would widened their lead  in the bottom of the 8th thanks to a Justin Torres two RBI single that would make the it 7-4. Ben Brann would shut the door on Brevard in the top of the ninth and secure the 7-4 win.
