N.Myrtle Beach, SC--The William Peace University Softball team defeated the Randolph College Wildcats in their first day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. The Pacers are now (6-7) on the season.
Durham Hurls Pacers Past Wildcats:
Kelsey Durham would be dominate in the circle for the Pacers on Tuesday afternoon. Durham would pitch a complete game allowing only one hit, to go along with one walk and three strikeouts. This marks win number three on the season for Durham as she now stands at 3-3 with a 2.65 ERA and 17 strikeouts on the season.
McLean and Oates Drive the Pacers Home:
In the bottom of the fifth inning , a Caylan Harrison double down the right field line would put her in scoring position as Olivia Oates came up to bat. Oates would come up with a timely single to center field to score Harrison from second. One inning later Kristina Mojica would start the inning off with a single to right field. Skylar Conklin would come in to pinch run for the Pacers. After Randolph College came up with one out, Lauren Conway would reach base on an error by the shortstop to move Conklin to second. Heather McLean would step up to the plate with one out in the bottom of the sixth and would deliver a single down the third base line to score Conklin and put the Pacers up (2-0). William Peace would add another run in the sixth as an error by the catcher would score Lauren Conway to make the score (3-0). In the top of the seventh Kelsey Durham would retire the side in order to preserve the Pacers (3-0) win.
Looking Ahead:
The Pacers will be back in action tomorrow in the Fastpitch Dreams Classic as they matchup against Penn State Fayette at 1:30PM, Suny Poly at 3:30PM and LA Roche College at 5:30PM.
