Holly Springs, NC -- The William Peace University Men's Lacrosse team were victorious against the Monarch's of Methodist University in a midweek USA South Conference matchup with a final score of 12-10.

Pacers Grind out a win behind a huge game from Nick Shelton: It was Nick Shelton and the defense who kept the Pacers out in front for most of the game. Shelton had 20 saves on the night against a very talented attack from the Monarchs. Shelton and the defense were able to hold off the late Monarch come back with several big saves and also grabbing timely ground balls to regain possession and finish game off.

The Pacers came out against Methodist University going down 2-0 early. Michael Meley would put the Pacers on the board after a shifty run. After two Monarch goals, Austin Abourjilie and Nick Falso answered with two goals for the Pacers. After another Monarch goal the Pacers went on a 5 goal run. Which started with a Nick Falso goal and also end with a goal from Falso on an EMO for the Pacers.  The Monarchs would score a goal right before half. At the half the Pacers lead 8-6.

The Second half Dalton Albright got the Pacers started with his second goal of the night. The two teams alternated goals back and forth in a very physical and highly contested game. With 45 seconds remaining in the game Michael Meley scored the final Pacer goal with 45 seconds. After several penalties, the Pacers Defense and Shelton had to hold off the Monarchs down 2 men for the remaining time. The Monarchs would score with 17 seconds to bring them within two but the Pacer defense who turned in a tremendous performance on the night would again answer the call and  hold the Monarchs to seal a win for the Pacers in a big USA South matchup 12-10.

THE BREAK DOWN:

• Nick Shelton recorded 20 saves

• Austin Abourjilie had 4 goals and 1 assist

• Michael Meley had 3 goals and 1 assist

• Dalton Albright had 2 goals and 1 assist

• Nick Falso had 2 goals and 1 assist

• Anthony Florian had 1 goal and 1 assist

FOR THE FOE:

• Matt Layden had 6 goals

• AJ Mejia had 2 goals and 1 assist

• Michael Bradley had 1 goal

• Cade Crews had 1 goal and 1 assist

WHAT'S NEXT:

The Pacers will play Averett University, on April 4th. The 4:00 p.m. game will be played in Danville, VA. Averett comes into the contest at 0-7  on the season overall. The Pacers are now 4-7 overall and 1-3 in conference.
