WINSTON SALEM, NC -- The William Peace University softball team fell in two highly contested games against the Spirits of Salem College.  The Pacers are now (11-11) overall and are (2-4) in the conference.

Game One

Game one was a pitchers dual between the Pacers and Spirits. Kelsey Durham started game one in the circle for the Pacers and turned in quite the performance. Durham pitched five and one third innings while striking out two and only giving up one run. The Pacers were held to three hits on the game by Salem ace, Miranda Baker. Lauren Conway, Heather McLean, and Katelyn McLamb combined for the Pacer's three hits. The game would remain scoreless all the way until the bottom of the sixth when the Spirits broke the tie scoring off of a wild pitch. Salem would go onto win (1-0).

Game Two

In the second game, the Pacers came out strong. Kristinia Mojica got on base in the first and Alexa Nemeth singled to drive in Mojica. The Spirits would jump out into the lead with two solo home runs in the bottom of the second to go up (2-1). In the top of the third Hayley Waddell scored on a sacrifice fly by Lauren Conway to tie the game at two. The Spirits would answer right back and regain the lead with another solo home run in the bottom of the third. Kacy Haithcock stepped up to bat in the top of the fourth and hit a solo shot of her own to tie the game at 3. The Pacers would take the lead at 4-3 in the fifth when Lauren Conway scored off of a Kristina Mojica single. However, the Pacers could not hold the lead and Salem would come back in the bottom of the seventh and pick up the win (5-4).
