Falcons Sweep Pacers in Weekend Doubleheader

MISENHEIMER, NC -- The Pfeiffer Falcons swept the Pacers in a Saturday afternoon double header, 8-0, 6-0.

GAME 1

STRANDED PACER OFFENSE

The Pacers were able to connect throughout the game but were unable to convert once on base. A sound Falcon defense shut down many attempts by the Pacers. Alexa Nemeth would get the bats going in the top of the second inning with a single up the middle. Olivia Oates and Kacy Haithcock would both reach on a pair of fielders choice outs before the inning would end leaving Haithcock stranded on base. With one out in the top of the fourth inning, Kristina Mojica would send a drive down the right side line for a double but would have no way to score as the following at-bats finished with a strikeout and ground out to the pitcher. The Pacers would make a rally in the top of the sixth inning to avoid the run-rule approaching. Mojica was hit by a pitch and Skylar Conklin came in the pinch run. A single thorugh the left side by Alexa Nemeth would advance Conklin. With runners on first and second and just one out, Olivia Oates would single up the middle to load the bases, but this is where the rally would end as two quick outs from the infield would send the Pacers to the bottom of the sixth inning scoreless, 5-0.

BIG BATS FROM THE FALCONS

In the bottom of the sixth inning, with no outs and two on with the Falcons up 5-0, Vada Blue Sherrill knocked a homerun over left field for a 3 RBI finish to end the game 8-0 in six innings. This was Sherrill's second hit on the day.
