Pacers Take On Cougars in Final Home Game of Season

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The WPU men's basketball team takes on Averett University in their final home game of the season on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Pacers recently faced the Cougars just two days prior in Danville, VA.

The Cougars (13-11) sit in third place in the East Division of the USA South while WPU sits just one place behind in fourth place. The Pacers are looking to secure their spot in the USA South Conference Tournament in their final two games of the regular season.

In their last meeting, the Pacers and Cougars went back and forth, trading leads throughout the 40 minutes of play. The Cougars, however, landed on top as the clock ran down, defeating the Pacers 80-76. Mikal Gaylord had an impressive night leading the Pacers with 19 points.  He also collected 5 rebounds and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. James Contreras Jr. scored 23 points and had 5 rebounds for the Cougars.
