Men's Soccer Closes Season out in Conference Quarterfinals

Rocky Mount ,NC-- The William Peace men's soccer team fell (4-0) to the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan in the Quarterfinals of the USA South Conference Tournament on Tuesday evening.

The first half would be a highly contested and physical battle with both teams going back and forth and both having opportunities in the first half.  Jacob Smith would be big in goal in the first half coming up with five saves.

North Carolina Wesleyan would come out in the second half and take the lead after a dangerous cross would find Aly Cadet in front of the net to put the Bishops up (1-0). The Bishops would add an insurance goal in the 77th minute off of a corner kick. The Pacers would try to push forward in the final stages of the second half with Jorge Aguilar creating some great opportunities in front of the goal but the Pacers would be held by an experienced Bishop backline. Aguilar would finish the game with 4 shots. North Carolina Wesleyan would add a third and fourth goal to seal the win late in the second half.
 

SEASON RECAP: The William Peace men's soccer team closes out their season at (8-5-5) overall. This year was one of many first for the men's program. The Pacers finish with the most wins in program history with eight. In Head Coach Ryan Huber's second year, the Pacers finished third in the USA South East Division with a conference record of (6-3-3) which is also the most conference wins in program history. Along with this, the Pacers qualified for the USA South Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. The Pacers also posted multiple first time wins over several conference and non conference foes. The future is bright for the young Pacer side as they will only graduate two seniors in Alex Velasquez and Matt Comienski.
