Pacers Secure Win Over Panthers

FERRUM, VA -- The Pacers defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College for the second time this season on Tuesday evening, 3-1. The Panthers stole a close set 1, 25-23, the Pacers then secured the remainder of the match with three back to back sets with a line score of, 25-21, 25-9, 25-10.

The first set began with both teams going on runs to swap leads. The Panthers would take a 6-5 lead and would maintain that lead for the remainder of the set. With a 17-12 lead, the Pacers began to inch back within reach after serving errors from the Panthers and big kills from Brianna Davis and Brienna Laskowski. With the Panthers leading, 24-19, the Pacers went on a 4-0 run to stall the Panthers and climb within 1 of the Panther lead. A final kill from Ferrum would seal the deal and give the Panthers the win, 25-23.

The second set would begin with an early 8-5 lead for the Pacers. Ferrum would keep things close throughout the second set but the Pacers would edge out the Panthers with a final point coming off of a service ace from Emily Braxton, 25-21. The Pacers would tally eight total service aces throughout the game.

Sets three and four would prove to be quick work for Pacers as they defeated the Panthers 25-9 and 25-10. With a 15-7 lead in set three, the Pacers would score seven unanswered points to take a commanding, 22-7 lead. Two big kills from Sha'Nice Frazier and a kill from Brienna Laskowski would close the third set, 25-9. Set four would follow in similar fashion to set three with the Pacers jumping out to a 23-8 lead. A kill from Mya Parks and an error from the Panthers would wrap up the set, 25-10.
