Volleyball Continues Win-Streak with Sweep Over Randolph

LYNCHBURG, VA --  The William Peace University volleyball team swept the Randolph College Wildcats on Friday evening. The Pacers improve to a 15-5 overall record and continue on a five-game win-streak.

The Pacers and Wildcats would trade leads to begin the first set of play before the Pacers would jump out to a staggering 15-8 lead off of a 10-0 run that consisted of five kills from Mya Parks and two service aces from Sophie Pereira. The Wildcats would fight back late in the set to keep the game close, however the Pacers would capitalize on errors from Randolph to secure the 25-22 victory.

Set two would prove to be a close match throughout with seven lead changes. With the score tied at 21 all, an error from the Wildcats followed by a service ace from Emily Braxton would put the Pacers up, 23-21. The Wildcats were unable to come back, and the Pacers would win set two, 25-23.

Set three would prove similar to set two, as the Wildcats kept the game close. The Pacers would maintain the lead throughout the majority of the game, only allowing the Wildcats to lead during the first few points of play. Brienna Laskowski would have three crucial kills down the stretch to secure the sweep for the Pacers as they took set three, 25-22.

  • Autumn Troxell lead the Wildcats with 11 kills and 15 digs.
  • Brooks Gillerlain tallied 21 assists.
  • Kennedy Webb tallied 15 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pacers face a quick turn around as they head to Staunton, VA on Saturday, October 13 as they take on Mary Baldwin and Salem College for a Mary Baldwin conference tri-match. The Pacers take on the Fighting Squirrels at 12:00 p.m. and the Spirits at 2:00 p.m.
