Pacers Fall to Cross-Town Rival Meredith

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University women's soccer team fell to the Avenging Angels of Meredith College on Wednesday evening with a final score of 0-4.

The Avenging Angels would jump on the scoreboard early in the 14th minute of play as Lillian Fox would place a shot just out of the reach of Pacer keeper, Makenzie Jones. Jordan Rogers would take the ball back down to the Pacers end of the field for a shot on goal that would head into the hands of Meredith's Miranda Lutz. The action would continue into the 17th minute as Morgan Tingen floated a shot over Jones in net. Alyssa Gasperini would come close for the Pacers on a drive down-field but would have her shot saved by Lutz. The Angels would head into halftime leading 2-0. The Angels out-shot the Pacers 6-3 in the first period.

The Angels and Pacers would trade possessions back and forth to open the second half, with the Angels finding their third goal of the game in the 72nd minute. Trailing 3-0, the Pacers would fight to find scoring opportunities throughout the second period. The Angels would hold the Pacers as time counted down, and with five minutes remaining Hunter Straub would score the fourth and final goal for the Angels.
