Men's Basketball Falls in High-Scoring Battle With Falcons

Raleigh, NC--The William Peace University men's basketball team fell to Pfeiffer University on Wednesday evening with a final score of 102-88.

The Falcons took an early lead in the first half, putting 9 on the board before Joshua Jones would give the Pacers their first points after sinking a 3-pointer in the third minute of play. Jones led the team in the first half with 12 points, shooting 57.1% from behind the arc. Pfeiffer shot an impressive 51.4% from the field, gaining their largest lead (32-18) at the 9:44 mark. The Pacers would battle back, starting on a layup and consecutive free-throw opportunities by Sam Arnold, and ending on a layup by Trey Bryant, which would tie the game (36-36) at 4:05. However, the Falcons would continue to be aggressive offensively, and the Pacers would head into halftime trailing 53-43.

Trey Bryant would start off the second half for the Pacers with a jumper, but the Falcons would quickly take over. They would go on a 10-point run until 14:50, when Pacer freshman, Tyson Sellers would add 2 from the line. Pfeiffer would continue to control the game offensively, not giving the Pacers much of a chance to close the gap until the final minutes, when a layup from Trey Bryant would bring the score within ten (96-86) at 2:10.
