CARY, N.C. -- The Pacers fell to the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday night in a tight battle that ended with the Tigers victorious with a final score of 2-1. The loss puts WPU at (2-1) on the season.
The Pacers were evenly matched with Hampden-Sydney for opportunities at goal. In the first half, the Pacers reached opportunities, but were not able to capitalize on them, as they continued to battle it out. Despite being evenly matched, the Tigers were able to secure their first goal during the first half at the 16Â minute mark.
Chris Deleon leveled the score for the Pacers three minutes into the second half with an assist from Jose Garcia Ramirez. The Tigers struck back, obtaining their final goal with 15 minutes left in the game. The men's soccer team continued to look for more goal scoring opportunities but to no avail, after being forced to make some adjustments to the lineup in the back with some injuries.
Christian Ortiz had a particularly strong performance in the back that helped to keep the game close. The senior goal keeper made several big saves for the Pacers and notched seven saves for the game.
The Pacers are back in action on Thursday, September 7 against Southern Virginia University. The game will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park and kick off will be at 6:00 p.m.
The  Knights are entering the game 0-2 coming off of a loss to Ferrum College.
