Box Score CARY, N.C. -- The WPU men's soccer team faced Ferrum College in a conference matchup on Sunday, September 24. The game was the Pacer's third conference matchup and first conference loss, leaving the Pacers 5-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference.
The Ferrum Panthers would grab an early lead six minutes in on a goal from Keith Ricks, his tenth on the season. The Panthers' Damon Mcleod would follow that up at minute 40 with a rebound off the crossbar. The game was a physical matchup, resulting in a combined 19 fouls and 2 yellow cards for both teams.
Ferrum's Roberto Cardoso would add to their lead at the 55th minute in the second half, while Nelson Manzanares would bring the tally to 4-0 Ferrum at the 64th. Senior
Chris Deleon would contribute the Pacers only goal in the 68th minute, assisted by
Uvaldo Acosta. Deleon is now WPU men's soccer all-time leading goal scorer with 17 career goals.
The Pacers will now look to Wednesday night's 6:00 p.m. home game against Methodist University, another conference matchup. Methodist currently stands 6-2-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in the conference.
