Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pacers Outlast Panthers, 72-68

FERRUM, Va. -- The William Peace University men's basketball team put a stop to a four-game skid by beating Ferrum, 72-68. Jay Hicks led the team with 17 points and Ryan Emfinger finished with a double-double.

The Pacers and Panthers traded runs in the first half. The Panthers were the ones to get off to a hot start going up 11 halfway through the first half. The Pacers brought that lead down to two with four minutes left. Ferrum grew the lead to six before the Pacers finished the first half on a 10-0 run to go up, 28-24.

The second half nearly mirrored the first. The Pacers held onto the lead for seven minutes before Ferrum took it back to go up 40-39. Ferrum then held onto the lead for nine minutes before the Pacers tied the game up at 59-59 on a Jalen Vince layup. The Pacers took the lead on the next possession and continued to hold the lead for the remainder of the game. Ferrum's Jordan Mann sank a three pointer with 19 seconds left to cut the Pacers lead to one, but that would be the Panthers' final three points and the Pacers would go on to sink a free throw and a layup.

Hicks finished the game with 17 points and seven boards on 7 of 11 shooting. Emfinger finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Jalen Vince was a perfect 7 for 7 from the floor for 15 points. Chris Thomas added 12 points.
