FERRUM, Va. -- The William Peace University women's basketball team's season ended today after losing to Ferrum, 62-48, in the quarterfinals of the USA South Women's Basketball Conference Tournament. The Pacers finished the year, 17-9.
The Pacers found themselves behind early and finished the first quarter down, 23-13. Ferrum outscored William Peace, 18-8, in the second quarter to go up, 41-21, over the Pacers.
The Pacers never recovered and only got closer towards the final few minutes of the game when Ferrum took out their starters.
Jayde Grant led the Pacers with 14 points.
The Pacers season came to a close against the No. 1 seed in the East Division of the conference tournament. Head Coach
Brandy Smith has quickly turned the Pacers program around in her first year of coaching bringing the Pacers to the conference tournament and winning 17 games when just a year ago the Pacers totalled seven wins.
