MISENHEIMER, NC -- The William Peace University women's soccer team faced a tough loss to Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon with the final score being 8-0. The Pacers are now (1-8) overall.
It was a very competitive game in the first half with Pfeiffer controlling most of the offense on their senior night. They took 10 shots on goal in the first half however, freshman Jessica Schutte managed to save all but 2. Pfeiffer managed to get the lead with two goals in the first half by Kat Kelley and Maggie Walker. The Pacers continued to fight hard in the half, but were unable to break the Pfeiffer defense.
Starting the second half the Hawks scored two minutes in making the score 3-0. As the half progressed the Hawks hit a dangerous shot resulting in a fourth goal of the game and second goal for Pfeiffers's Walker. The Hawks got a penalty allowing them to advance their lead. Eventually the Pacer defense was unable to stop the Falcon attack which brought in 6 goals in the second half making the final score 8-0. All four seniors scored for Pfeiffer on their senior night.
The Pacers will be back in action on Wednesday, October. 11, against Greensboro College, at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:00 p.m. The Pride of Greensboro College is currently (11-2) and will face N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday, October 8, before taking on the Pacers. The Pride are ranked 5th in conference play.
