RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University volleyball team faced Meredith College in a USA South Conference match on Wednesday, October 25, winning the game 3-1. The Pacers now improve to (16-16) overall and (11-3) in the conference.
Set one proved to be the closest match-up of the game. The Pacers would trail for most of the set by a few points, eventually falling 25-21 in the set. In the second set, WPU would take the lead and run with it, controlling the entire set and winning 25-14. The Pacers also led for most of the third set, winning that set 25-17. In the fourth and final set, WPU would again jump out to a commanding lead and maintain that lead for the entire set, winning 25-8.
Sha'Nice Frazier,
Hailey Stout, and
Lindsay Alford all had 8 kills a piece for the game, while
Liana Solomon led with 26 assists.
Carson Williams continued to lead on the defensive side with 22 digs. The team also had an impressive 16 service aces for the game.
The Pacers now look ahead to their final regular season games of the season in the WPU quad-match on Saturday, October 28. They will face Mary Baldwin College at 10:00 a.m. and Salem College at 4:00 p.m. Mary Baldwin is currently (0-28) on the season and (0-14) in the conference, while Salem is (20-9) overall and (9-5) in the conference. The Spirits of Salem College are ranked fourth in the USA South. If WPU wins both games on Saturday, they will host the first round of the east division conference play-offs.
