Box Score CARY, NC -- The WPU women's soccer team fell to N.C. Wesleyan at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC on October 18. The USA South Conference game honored the team's three seniors,
Amber Arnold,
Ashley Johnson, and
Katie Hodges.
N.C. Wesleyan controlled the first half on the offensive side of the field, scoring four of their five goals in the first 27 minutes. The Bishop's Jordan Forbess would score the game's first goal just 26 seconds into the game. Cydney Nichols would add a goal at the 38 minute mark to give Wesleyan a 5-0 lead over WPU.
In the second half, the Pacers would up their defensive game, holding the Bishops to their score from the first half. Pacer goalkeeper
Kaylea Eubanks had 12 saves for the game.
Amber Arnold led the team defensively with a few spectacular slide tackles.
Alyssa Gasperini would score her first goal of the season at the 79 minute mark, which was assisted by senior,
Katie Hodges. This was also the first goal of the season for WPU in front of the home crowd.
WPU will now head to Ferrum, VA to face Ferrum College in their final game of the season. Ferrum is (7-8) on the season overall and (2-4) in the conference.
