ROCKY MOUNT, NC -- The WPU men's soccer team fell to the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan College on Wednesday evening with a final score of 3-0. The Pacers drop to (6-8-1) on the season and (2-5-1) in conference.
The Pacer offense got off to a limited start with the WPU men's team unable to execute any shots in the first half. The Battling Bishops came out firing notching 13 shots with 12 shots on goal in the first 45 minutes. Senior,
Christian Ortiz tallied five saves in the first and four saves in the second period in net for the Pacers. The first two goals of the game would find the back of the net within two minutes of each other.
The second period would bring another half of aggressive offense with the Bishops taking 11 shots. Their third goal of the game came within the first three minutes of the second period with a goal from the Bishop's Walid Yacoubou. The Pacers would fight for their offense tallying two shots on goal in the second half but would not connect for the remainder of the game.
The Pacers look ahead to take on Pfeiffer University on October 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Misenheimer, NC. The Falcons are (4-5) overall and will not be considered conference play until next year.
