CARY, NC – The William Peace University women's soccer team was back at WakeMed Soccer Park Wednesday afternoon against Greensboro College, where the Pacers fell to the Pride by a final score of 3-0.
The Pacers (2-7-1, 1-4 USAS) settled in and played well defensively after a five-minute lapse in the first.
Shannon Maddex played particularly strong, saving 14 shots and making a number of plays coming off her line to squander scoring opportunities, but the Pacers were unable to generate a goal of their own.
Caitlyn Cook struck first in the 26th minute, running on to a loose ball in the box before lofting it up and just over the outstretched arms of Maddex. Lauren Greeson found Cook for her second goal of the game in the 30th, and then Greeson put the Pride (7-2, 3-2 USAS) up 3-0 with a goal in the 66th.
The WPU women's soccer team hits the road this weekend for two more USA South matches. The Pacers square off against Methodist on Saturday followed by North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday.
