Baseball Surrenders Series Finale to Scots

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA – After a pair of one-run losses in their first two games yesterday, the William Peace University baseball team finished up their three-game series  at Covenant on Saturday, as the Scots scored six in the fourth and finished off the sweep over the Pacers with a 12-5 win.
 
Cullen Cicotte led the way for WPU (8-19, 1-11 USAS) with a 4-for-4 day and two runs scored. Nick Cole went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Mikey Anerton added a pair of hits and scored a run. Easton Payton, Derek Beale and Trey Hogan all chipped in with one hit apiece. 
 
Christian Neal (2-3) was pinned with the loss, giving up eight runs on eight hits, six walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.
 
Ryan Gosney (3-3) earned the win for Covenant (15-13, 6-6 USAS). He allowed four runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits, a walk and three strikeouts. 
 
Caleb Bloye finished 5-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored, while Taylor Bloye went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Luke Harvey went 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in another. Alex Kerr also had three hits and drove in two.
 
The WPU baseball team is back home at the USA Baseball National Training Complex this Tuesday for a non-conference game against Division II Virginia State University at 5:00 p.m.
