Softball Goes Undefeated at Triangle Classic

CARY, NC –The William Peace University softball team capped an undefeated weekend at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic Sunday afternoon, taking down Hood College in game one, 5-1, followed by an 11-4 win against Washington College in game two.

The Pacers scored two runs in the bottom of the first and third innings, as Kelsey Durham (3-3) picked up her second win of the weekend, giving up one unearned run on five hits and four strikeouts in her third complete game effort of the year.
 
Brittany Propri led the Pacers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.  Lindsey Wiggins added two hits and scored twice.
 
Beth Laque (0-1) was pinned with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks in six innings of work.
 
Ashley Fource scored the lone run for the Blazers, advancing to third on a two-base error after singling to lead off the second. Kayli Paugh drove her in with an RBI groundout.
 
Game Two: William Peace 11, Washington 4
WPU (9-4) racked up 15 hits and scored at least one run in every inning on their way to an 11-4 win and a 4-0 weekend.
 
Six Pacers recorded multiple hits led by Caroline Womble's 4-for-4 game. Womble also drew a walk, scored twice and knocked two in. Morgan Farmer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Propri finished 2-for-4, scored two runs and drove in three. Wiggins collected two hits, drew a pair of walks and scored three runs. Heather McLean notched two hits and an RBI. Durham had two hits and scored a run. 
 
Farmer improved her record to 6-1 in the circle this year, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and three strikeouts.
 
Taylor Harcum (1-2) was tacked with the loss for Washington (1-3), giving up two earned on four hits in three innings pitched.
 
Elaina DiPrimio went 2-for-3 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored. Meredith Maynard and Hannah Spohn each contributed two hits and scored a run.  

The WPU softball team is back in action, traveling for their conference opener against Ferrum on Saturday. The Pacers turn around on Sunday for a double at Mary Baldwin.
