WPU Hosts Hampden-Sydney

RALEIGH, N.C. – The William Peace University men's basketball team will host Hampden-Sydney College on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. in the Hermann Athletic Center. The Pacers are coming off a victory over UT Dallas at the Guilford College Invitational and looking to start the season 3-1 for the second time in program history.

Jalen Vince and Chris Thomas share the Pacers scoring leader title at 14.0 points per game after three games. Vince, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., has tallied 15 assists and is shooting 63% from the field. Vince also leads the team in steals with seven and is tied for the team lead in blocks at two. Ryan Emfinger is averaging 6.7 rebounds a game to lead the Pacers in rebounding.

Hampden-Sydney (1-0) will be fresh with a full week's rest before facing the Pacers Tuesday night. The Tigers are led by Nick Chase and Jake Duncan who scored 20 and 15 points, respectively, in Hampden-Sydney's win over Averett.

The Pacers are 0-1 against the Tigers in program history. The 89-84 loss came a year ago in the Hermann Athletic Center, something the players likely haven't forgotten. Live stats and a live stream for the game can be found online. The women's basketball team will compete against Salem College following the conclusion of the men's game.
