Jalen Vince scored 16 points to lead William Peace University (1-0) over Randolph College (0-1) in the Pacers' season opener. William Peace picked up its first victory over Randolph College in program history on Tuesday night outscoring the wildcats 81-58.
The Pacers built the lead early on and never looked back. Vince was dominant in the first half making four of five from the field and netting two steals. The Pacers almost doubled up the Wildcats in the first half, 44-23.
The second half was much closer, but the lead the Pacers had earned was insurmountable for the Wildcats. The Wildcats never got within 10 points the entire second half.
Randolph tried to break through William Peace's stifling defense which resulted in 11 steals for the Pacers and a total of 18 turnovers for Randolph College. William Peace held Randolph to just 34.5% for the game. William Peace, on the other hand, had an efficient night shooting 47.7%. The Pacers had six players shoot 50% or better for the game.
The Pacers will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to play in the Guilford College Invitational. William Peace will square off against Emory University (0-1) at 5 p.m. on Friday and have another game on Saturday.
