Box Score 2 WPU Volleyball Takes Pair of Wins in Final Regular Season Tri-Match Making 2016 Pacers Winningest Team in School History
The William Peace University volleyball team finished out their regular season with a pair of wins against Bob Jones University and regionally ranked Bridgewater College.
In their first match, WPU took on the Bridgewater Eagles who are ranked 7th in the South Region. The Pacers fell in the first two sets, 20-25 and 14-25. WPU powered into their third set and Liana Solomon was the driving force, contributing 13 assists to her teammates, leading the Pacers to take the set 25-22. Solomon finished with a total of 27 assists in this match.
The momentum from the 3rd set carried over into the final two sets where the Pacers finished 25-20 and 15-7. Senior Laura Bland led the Pacers with 15 kills and 30 digs. Bland has now passed her single season record from last year of 355, now reaching 361!
Going into the second match for WPU, Bob Jones University came in after losing to Bridgewater College 3-0. The Pacers battled in the first set, winning 26-24 after the Bruins made a huge run from being down 24-13. In set two, the Pacers finished with another win, 25-16. The final set of the match was an exciting back and forth scoring game, to which the Pacers held off the Bruins, 25-23. Liana Solomon had another great game offering two aces, 26 assists, and seven digs.
The two wins from this Tri-Match make this 2016 WPU volleyball team the winningest team in William Peace University volleyball history with 23 wins so far!
The Pacers are currently 3rd in the USA South East Division making them eligible to participate in the USA South Volleyball Conference Tournament beginning Tuesday, November 1st. More details on the game times and locations will be announced in the following days. Go get em' Pacers!
