WPU Women's Soccer Shut Down by Scots

CARY, NC – The William Peace University women's soccer team was back at WakeMed Soccer Park on Monday, hosting Maryville College. The Pacers were shutout by the defending USA South Conference champion Scots, 5-0.

WPU (3-5-1, 2-2 USAS) dug themselves an early hole, as Rachel Leal found Sierra Siegel, the conference's reigning Player of the Year, for the score, followed by the first of two goals on the day for Allyson Hale in the 6th. Maryville (6-2, 3-1 USAS) made it 3-0 before the break and went on for an easy win.

"We just weren't mentally prepared to play today against a quality opponent like Maryville. It's that simple," explained head coach Keith Jenkins.

The WPU women's soccer team will have a chance to redeem themselves on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m., as they travel to face Ferrum College. LIVE STATS will be available for the contest, which will be played at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia.
