ROCKY MOUNT, NC – The William Peace University volleyball team was back in action on Saturday, traveling to take on a pair of USA South opponents in Rocky Mount. The Pacers swept both Greensboro College and Mary Baldwin, improving to 11-4 overall with a 5-1 record in conference play.

WPU looked sluggish early on against Greensboro (4-10, 1-4 USAS), but a quick timeout called by head coach Kevin Daniels, followed by an ensuing 6-0 swing jumpstarted their day, as the Pacers went on to win the first set, 25-18. WPU finished the second set on a 7-0 run to win, 25-19, before hanging on in the third to close out the Pride, 25-23.

Laura Bland led the Pacers with 13 kills and three block assists, while Tempestt Frazier had nine kills at a scorching .615 clip, two block assists and a block solo. Liana Solomon followed those two with seven kills 15 assists, a service ace and a block assist. Kennedey Paine registered a team high 21 assists, four digs and a pair of service aces. Carson Williams added 15 digs, four assists and two service aces.

The Pacers made quick work of Mary Baldwin (2-16, 0-6 USAS) in their second set match, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-7.

Bland and Frazier led the attack once again with 11 and eight kills, respectively. Solomon finished with 12 assists, five kills and four service aces, while Paine came in with 14 assists, four digs, a service ace and one kill. Maddie Irvin also chipped in with 10 digs and a pair of service aces.

The WPU volleyball team hits the court next Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. for an important match against the division leading Avenging Angels of Meredith College.
