WPU Baseball Blanked by LaGrange in Series Finale

CARY, NC – The William Peace Baseball Team dug themselves a 2-0 deficit before their first at-bat and couldn't recover, as LaGrange College went on to win, 4-0, completing the series sweep.

Christian Neal put together a quality start on the mound despite the shaky start, but the Pacers' offensive woes continued. WPU (1-18, 1-17 USAS) collected seven hits, but three of those were off the bat of Braxton Lamm, and their inability to string hits together or deliver them with two outs resulted in eight runners left on base.

Neal (1-4) was pinned with the loss, giving up four runs on nine hits and four strikeouts in seven innings of work. Lamm and Kyle Vincent split the final two innings, tossing a perfect eighth and ninth inning, respectively.

In addition to Lamm's 3-for-4 day, four other Pacers tallied one hit apiece, including Neal, Travis Arthur, Josh Clark and Matt Proctor. Trevor Nanney didn't record a hit but did draw a pair of walks.

Zach English (3-2) picked up the win for LaGrange, pitching seven scoreless innings. At the plate, Jim Reed paced the Panthers (9-13, 9-9 USAS), going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Alec Redden and Jackson Patrick both went 2-for-4 with an RBI apiece, while Redden also scored a run.

The Pacers will be back in action next weekend for a three game series at Huntingdon, starting with a Saturday doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
