RALEIGH, NC – The William Peace University men's basketball team improved their record to 2-0 at the Hermann Athletic Center this season, beating Bridgewater College Saturday night, 70-49.
WPU grabbed control early on with a 10-0 run, jumped out to a 12 point lead (18-6) midway through the first half and never looked back. The Pacers (2-1) went into halftime up 34-19 on their way to a comfortable 21-point victory.
The Pacers only shot 22-of-61 (36.1%) from the field and 3-of-18 (16.7%) from beyond the arc, but they dominated Bridgewater (1-2) on the glass and racked up a program record 17 steals. The Eagles coughed it up 23 times, which led to 15 points for the Pacers at the other end.Four Pacers finished in double-figures led by Jalen Vince's game high 15 points. Vince also posted a team high eight rebounds to go along with three assists, three steals and a blocked shot. Nate Strother recorded 14 points, six rebounds and a steal. Ryan Emfinger notched 13 points, eight boards and five steals.
