GREENSBORO, NC – The William Peace University volleyball team traveled to Greensboro College on Thursday, as the Pacers picked up their second win of the season over the Pride, 3-1.
WPU (13-7, 6-4 USAS) narrowly lost the first set, 25-23, but the Pacers battled in a back-and-forth second set, knotting things up with a 30-28 win. Greensboro (5-15, 2-8 USAS) wasn't able to recover and the Pacers closed them out, 25-20 and 25-19.
Juniors
Laura Bland,
Tempestt Frazier and
Liana Solomon led the way for WPU. Bland racked up 16 kills and five digs, while Frazier finished with 10 kills and a pair of block solos. Solomon was at the helm of the attack with 25 assists and 10 kills to go along with seven digs and a block solo.
Kennedey Paine also had 15 assists.
Three Pacers finished with double digit digs.
Carson Williams posted a team high 25 digs. Seniors
Connor Davis and
Maddie Irvin recorded 15 apiece.
Meredith Summers led Greensboro with 14 kills, while Shayla Moss and Brandy Johnson had 11 and 10, respectively. Darrian Bolt tallied 28 assists, and Tori Belcher had 21 digs.
The WPU volleyball team will be back at the Hermann Athletic Center this weekend for a pair of conference matches against Huntingdon and LaGrange.
