Women's Soccer Bested by Greensboro, 2-0

GREENSBORO, NC – The William Peace women's soccer team traveled to Greensboro College Wednesday afternoon, where the Pacers fell, 2-0.

WPU (5-8-2, 3-5 USAS) held Greensboro scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play, but the Pride took a 1-0 lead less than one  minute into the second half, as Julyana Devonish found Amanda Foley for the score.

The Pacers were outshot, 22-3, but they had an opportunity to tie the match when Mari Mitterling drew a foul in the box in the 79th minute. WPU was awarded a penalty kick, but they weren't able to put it away. Greensboro (9-3-1, 4-2-1 USAS) added an insurance goal in the 87th. Meghan Cole scored on an assist from Melanie Raton.

"We played so well at times and had a chance towards the end, but a mental lapse to begin the second half really hurt us," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "It's crucial that we bounce back with a positive result in Rocky Mount this weekend."

The WPU women's soccer team will be back in action this Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. against the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan.
