WPU Women's Soccer Falls at NC Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – The William Peace University women's soccer team was back in action Saturday afternoon, traveling to take on the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan. The Pacers fell, 6-0.

WPU (5-9-2, 3-6 USAS) allowed two goals in the first ten minutes, as Logan Bill headed the first one in on the cross from Maggie Rankin in the 9th minute.  Bill found Sarah Olsowski a minute later to make it 2-0.

Ella Burkhart made it 3-0 in the 19th and then found her teammate Brittanie Hensley on a corner kick in the 27th, which gave NC Wesleyan a 4-0 lead at the half. The Bishops (5-8-1, 3-6 USAS) added two more after the break on their way to the win.

"This could have been a historic day for our program, but we weren't prepared to play and let an opportunity slip away," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "We have to regroup and find a way to finish the season strong."

The WPU women's soccer team will be at WakeMed Soccer Park for their final three regular season games of the season, starting with Mary Baldwin on Friday, October 23 at 3:00 p.m. The Pacers will host Covenant College the next day at 2:00 p.m., before closing the regular season against Averett University next Wednesday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m.
