WPU Men's Soccer Outmatched by Maryville in USA South Debut

MARYVILLE, TN. – The William Peace men's soccer team played their first ever USA South conference match Friday night which they lost, 6-0.

"We knew the USA South was going to be a tough conference and that definitely proved to be true today," said head coach Zane Hill. "The men gave it there all but just failed to execute which resulted in goals for our opponents."

The Pacers had two separate 11 minute stretches during the first and second halves where they allowed three goals and only managed to put one of their eight shots on goal.

"There were stretches we played well, but we couldn't really get conistent possession and time on the ball," Hill said. 'We kept fighting though despite the score."

Tim Baker struck first for the Scots in the 11th minute with help from Seth Douthat.  Douthat assisted the next goal scored by David Lethco in the 16th minute, and then Lethco assisted Alex Waddell in the 22nd for the 3-0 advantage.

Baker opened the second half with his second goal of the game in the 53rd minute. Thomas Palmer scored in the 62nd minute.  Konner Dozark assisted Hayden Puryear's goal two minutes later.

WPU will turn around on short rest tomorrow against the Lions of Piedmont College. LIVE STATS will be available. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
