CARY, N.C. – The William Peace women's soccer team was back on their home pitch against the Owls of Warren Wilson tonight who downed the Pacers, 2-0, behind two goals from Bianca Canizio.
"It's frustrating because in my opinion, they aren't two goals better than us," said head coach Keith Jenkins. "We knew number 20 was going to be a problem for us though, and you have to give that Warren Wilson team all the credit."
Canizio's struck right away in the 4th minute of the game as she stole the ball from a Pacer defender at the top of the 18 yard box and sent it home with a wide open look at the net. She gave the Owls a 2-0 lead six minutes into the second half taking the feed from Kat Camara.
"She's dynamic, feisty, and scores goals when it matters most, but at the same time we also let her go too many times," said Jenkins. "I thought our backline played well for the most part, but when we watch the ball and not our marks, they're able to slip by sometimes."
The Pacers controlled possession for much of the game, but despite only being outshot, 12-8, they had trouble creating quality opportunities on goal.
"At times we look great, and we're able to connect several passes together, but just can't seem to find that last good look," said Jenkins. "We're just missing something in the final third right now and we have to work on that."
The William Peace women's soccer team will return to action on Sunday, Sep. 14 at 12:00 p.m. against the Wolves of Wesleyan College. Live Stats will be available for the game.
